The Joy of Stopping a Gas Pipeline: Verne McArthur – Springfield Climate Justice Coalition

Global issues came to my hometown recently, as a new gas pipeline is being proposed in Springfield, Massachusetts. We urgently need to stop using fossil fuels – and soon! – to avoid a horrific climate change future. Instead, Eversource Energy wants to spend $40 million on new fossil fuel infrastructure that will be with us for decades. Citizens are rallying against the pipeline, including me.

Today’s guest, Verne McArthur, explains what is happening, and what can be done about it.

Whether you live in Massachusetts or elsewhere, you’ll want to listen. We look at the process of transitioning our energy systems away from fossil fuels and toward renewables. Communities everywhere have important decisions to make about their energy future.
